Find out what resources are available for schools teaching about Pacific museums and heritage
There are a number of region specific resources available for teachers of Pacific heritage and culture.
In 2003 the Council of Presidents of Pacific Island History Associations (HistoryCOPs) a regional professional development project funded since 1995 by the Sasakawa Pacific Islands Nations Fund, Japan., developed the publication “Pacific History, Museums and Cultural Centres: A Guide for History teachers.” The publication was endorsed by PIMA, and is available for free download here:
Released in October 2005 by UNESCO's Local and Indigenous Knowledge Systems (LINKS) project “The Canoe Is the People” is a CD-ROMs designed for Pacific youth which honours and explores the knowledge and skills of traditional Pacific navigation. The LINKS series uses new information and communications technologies to interest indigenous young people in their own knowledge systems.
