Our Executive Boards

Pacific Islands Museums Association (PIMA)

PIMA and ICOMOS Pasifika are governed by two separate boards, but share the same secretariat in Port Vila, Vanuatu. The two associations together are now known as the ‘Pacific Heritage Network’.

PIMA is governed by a Constitution, an Executive Board consisting of seven elected members, one honorary member, and four Trustees. The Board includes the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and three members. The Executive Board has full powers of management, and appoints a Secretary General to be responsible for the daily performance of the administrative and organisational work for PIMA.

Elected for the period February 2006 - February 2009, the current sitting members of the Executive Board are:

  • Chairperson – Ms Faustina K. Rehuher (Director, Belau National Museum – Palau)
  • Deputy Chairperson – Mr Simon Poraituk (Acting Director, Papua New Guinea National Museum and Art Gallery)
  • Secretary – Ms Sina Ah Poe (Curator, National Museum of Samoa)
  • Treasurer – Mr Emmanuel Kasarhérou (Director, Agence de Développement de la Culture Kanak - Centre Culturel Tjibaou– New Caledonia)
  • Board Member – Adi Meretui Ratunabuabua (Principal Cultural Development Officer, Department of Culture and Heritage, Fiji)
  • Board Member – Mr Ralph Regenvanu (Director, Vanuatu National Cultural Council)
  • Board Member – Hon. Albert Vaea (Secretary, Tonga Traditions Committee)
  • Honorary Board Member and Immediate Past Chairperson - Mr Lawrence Foana’ota (Director, Solomon Islands National Museum)

ICOMOS International Scientific Committee of the Pacific Islands (ICOMOS Pasifika)

ICOMOS Pasifika is governed by a set of Statutes and a Bureau (Executive Board) which is elected from amongst the membership of the Scientific Committee of ICOMOS Pasifika. The Executive Board includes the President, two Vice Presidents, a Treasurer and Secretary. The Board is responsible for implementation of the Committee's decisions, preparations for the Committee's meetings, preparations for Committee elections; and drafting the annual report. Members of the ICOMOS Pasifika Board signed an MOU with PIMA in July 2007, which amongst other arrangements, agreed that the two associations would be located in the same office and share the one secretariat.

Elected for the period February 2007- February 2010, the current sitting members of the Executive Board are:

  • President – Mr Rufino Mauricio (Secretary General, Federated States of Micronesia National Commission for UNESCO, located in Pohnpei State)
  • 1st Vice President – Mr Christophe Sand (Head, Department of Archaeology, New Caledonia)
  • 2nd Vice President – Ms Faustina K. Rehuher (Director, Belau National Museum, Palau)
  • Secretary – Mr Richard Ariihau Tuheiava (Chairman "Na-Papa-e-Va'u" Raiatea, Tahiti)
  • Treasurer – Adi Meretui Ratunabuabua (Principal Cultural Development Officer, Department of Culture & Heritage, Fiji)
